Barbara has been painting full time for about twelve years. Even though she majored in art at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, she spent over thirty years in the computer business as a programmer, analyst, and consultant. She has been totally focused on painting and taking art classes since 1998. Although her early art training in college was in figure drawing, still life and abstract painting, she has always been drawn to landscape painting, especially the Impressionists, specifically the early American Impressionists and the early Taos painters.

For the last twelve years, she has focused on landscape painting. She joined the Die Künstler Von Fredericksburg art club in Fredericksburg, TX, and the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico to meet fellow painting enthusiasts in Texas and New Mexico.

Barbara has shown her work with the Die Künstler art group, the Fredericksburg Art Guild, the Kerrville Arts and Cultural Center, the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, the Alto Artists Studio Tour and the Lincoln County Art Loop and Studio Tour. In addition, her work is in the Old Lincoln Gallery in Lincoln, NM, and DJ’s Jewelry in Ruidoso, NM.

Barbara started taking art classes wherever she found them - the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO, and the Art Students League of Denver. In 2004 she and her husband moved to Fredericksburg, TX, where she continued to take classes by participating in one-week workshops at the Fredericksburg Artists' School. She continues to take workshops all over the country.

Needless to say, the realization that art is a lifetime commitment has challenged her to become the best artist she can be. She hopes the love and joy that went into making each painting is what captures the viewer as well.
