Paul Maxwell has been painting all his life. He painted portraits as a young adult before entering the field of engineering and sciences earning undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso and Stanford University.
In 2012 Paul decided to re-explore the world of art full time and began painting from his Southern New Mexico studio focusing on landscapes and local subjects. Paul has traveled to Europe over the past several years, including extended visits to Florence in 2013 and 2014
where he studied art at the Academe de Arte, working with a number of renowned artists and producing a number of paintings based on his travels as well as the wonderful environment of Florence. He has continued to explore various media and topics, returning to oils and then water colors, adding themes and ideas from the desert southwest to his repertoire of painting. More recently he has taken workshops on watercolor and impressionist art from well known local artist, Ron Fritsch.
Maxwell has held a number of art shows and has shown his work in the Paso del Norte region (Crossland Gallery, Art Masters, Art and Framing Gallery, Ardovino's Crossing, and the Magic Bistro, El Paso; Naturally Inspired Gallery and Art Ruidoso Gallery, Ruidoso, NM; Big Picture Printing, Las Cruces, NM) selling numerous paintings and prints. Paul is also a member of the Oil Painters of American National Art Association, and the El Paso Art Association
La India" is a 24 x32" Acrylic painting by Paul Maxwell recently donated to the El Paso Veteran Center in honor of his father, James J. Maxwell, a 35 year veteran of the US Army.
