Art in the Garden, a Picacho Hills-based art event, will return on May 7, 2023. Members of The Artists of Picacho Hills have been organizing and hosting this event since 2011. The group reaches out to residents in the Picacho Hills area to select six gardens that represent the natural beauty of Southern New Mexico landscaping and are accessible to the public.

Each appointed home hosts two to three artists in their garden. The artists display artwork to sell, and some bring their tools and demonstrate their art practice to the public. The gardens will have a Garden Host and a Master Gardener on site to answer any questions about plantings and other garden-related matters. The event is free and open from 11 am to 4 pm. There will be a welcome booth behind the Santa Fe Grill where patrons can pick up maps to guide them through the event.

"We are excited to bring back Art in the Garden after a three-year hiatus due to Covid", said Dr. Paul Maxwell, the event co-chair. "We have six beautiful homes and gardens and 17 Picacho Hills' artists showing their beautiful creations. Painters, Jewelers, Ceramicists, Weavers and Crafters will be showing and selling their art at this event. Something for everyone!"

Laurel Weathersbee, new to the group, is the other event co-chair. Weathersbee is a Signature Member of the Southern Chapter of the New Mexico Watercolor Society and an art educator.

The Artists of Picacho Hills was founded in 2008 by artists living in the Picacho Hills Community with a shared interest in promoting the arts. The organization also puts together a fall show titled Holly Day House that raises money for charity. Expenses of producing the show are provided through the generosity of local business sponsors. This year
