A native Iowan, Susan Pauley, enjoys all things fiber. When she was eight-years-old, her grandmother gave her a Learn-to-Knit kit, and she was on her way to becoming the “compulsive knitter.”
Susan received her BA in studio art from The University of Iowa in 1978. She studied drawing, painting, surface design, and weaving. She worked for 30 years in the printing industry and used knitting to unwind from the stress of daily deadlines.
In 2005 she bought her first spinning wheel and began spinning art yarn. She now has two wheels and bins full of yarn and fiber.
She retired from The University of Iowa Printing Department in 2010 and moved to Cape Coral, Florida the next year. After extensive travel in the west and southwest, Susan moved to Las Cruces in 2020. Susan considers spinning and knitting as a way to work with color in a tactile manner. She sells her yarn and knitted creations on her Etsy page: www.etsy.com/shop/spauley.
